Restored Triton Fountain takes Instagram by storm
The recently unveiled Triton fountain has been showing off its newly restored glory all over our news feeds, and we can't get enough!

Sarah Micallef

Following a year-long restoration worth a whopping €4 million, the majestic Triton Fountain was recently unveiled to the public ahead of the Valletta 2018 opening ceremony last month, and the mighty Tritons guarding the entrance to the capital city have never looked better!

Designed by the sculptor Vincent Apap and the designer Victor Anastasi, the fountain was originally completed in 1959, and went on to suffer considerable damage over the years – so much so that it needed to be sent to Florence in Italy for a full restoration. Now, freshly polished and grander than ever, the Tritons have proven to be quite the social media darlings since the fountain’s inauguration on 12th January, spawning artistic shots, comments and shares. Here are a few of our favourites!
