Did you know that Valletta’s Embassy cinemas were once a much grander affair than the six-screen cinema we know today?

Back in the 1950s and all the way through to the 1980s, the Embassy and Ambassador cinemas, built under one roof, were all the rage, and made for many a highlight in one’s trip to Valletta!

This shot, taken around 1975, shows people queuing up alongside the façade, waiting in line to watch the popular Jaws film – how many of them will think twice before hitting the waves on their next beach visit, we wonder!
