Extended visiting hours & free guided tours among new cultural initiatives to revive Valletta
New initiatives will come into effect from July.
Valletta will be coming back to life thanks to a new economic plan announced today which will boost culture and business in our glorious capital.
Among the new initiatives are ones related to culture, particularly to entice both locals and tourists coming from July to explore our capital’s rich history. Authorities announced that leading attractions in Valletta will be free of charge in July and will have extended visiting hours.
Other attractions boasting unique heritage such as the Upper Barrakka Gardens, the Saluting Batteries, and Lascaris War Rooms will offer free guided tours in both English and Maltese during the month of July.
Authorities also noted that the open air cinema that they launched is officially sold out, showing that the Maltese population yearns for culture and entertainment. Street theatre among other performances are on the cards, in collaboration with other entities.
Apart from this, authorities also announced transport-related plans that will see Valletta’s Controlled Vehicle Access waived as well as providing the ferry services to and from the capital stationed at Sliema and Cottonera respectively, to operate free of charge every day from 6pm to midnight.
